2006 Book Challenge: Just Read Already!
33. From Russia With Love; Ian Fleming (190 pages)
Another pulled off the shelf for a quick read down memory lane.
This is the one where Bond not only falls in love, but gets married...where he really does meet his match in Tracy (played in the film but the ever-fabulous Diana Rigg).
The story builds slowly, but eventually adapts the typical Fleming-style.
Blofeld is masquerading as someone else (after extensive plastic surgery), and apparently, doing good deeds; helping attractive young women overcome their allergies or phobias.
Of course, he's doing this so he can use the girls to wipe out England's agricultural town and cities, leaving the country practically in the Dark Ages.
It's not as crazy as it sounds...bio weapons were a danger as many as sixty years ago.
007 stops the 'nefarious' plot, and gets the girl...sort of.
I do love my Bond!
