7. See No Evil: A True Story of a Ground Soldier in the CIA's War on Terror; Robert Baer
Wow. Seriously heavy...("Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?")...Baer never comes off heavy-handed, but as you read (he left the CIA-blackened material in the book), his frustration with the dismantling of our intelligence gathering agencies, and the increased emphasis on political correctness ("let's not spy on so-and-so; we don't want them to get mad at us") and money becomes apparent, and it's not difficult to feel as if your own hands are tied, too. Disturbingly terrifying, and while a map of the Middle East may be necessary to keep track of names and places, an absolute must-read.
