Single, dating, committed or what have you; I hope you have a happy day.

Matt and I 'celebrated' Saturday night: we dropped Alex off at his grandparent's house (thank you!), and had an amazing dinner at a little Italian place called Savelli's. I don't think the restaurant holds more than sixteen or seventeen tables. The building looked like an old storefront. Brick building. The decor was wonderful, prints and paintings of various kinds...oil painting of a saint, a large black and white of the Rat Pack playing pool, maps, all kinds of things.
Strings of lights bordered the walls, and Italian flags were used as partitions. It was cozy, and felt just like (what I imagine) an Italian bistro would look like.

As for the food? Well, no complaints there. Lots of choices, and as a vegetarian, I wasn't saddled with just one or two dishes.
We got mozzarella sticks as an appetizer (safe, but I really love fried cheese!), a small house salad each, Matt had some form of pasta (can't remember what shape) with pesto...he was really excited at the prospect of having pesto in February...it was, apparently, quite good. I had a baked ziti in marinara, which was very tasty. Came with a large chunk of crusty garlic bread. All very good, but the portions were perfect; the plates were enormous, but the food was spread out in a thin layer. It looked like you had too much food, but it was actually just enough.
And for dessert, Matt got a brownie cake, smothered in caramel, milk chocolate, more caramel and pecans. It was good, but too rich for me. I had a fantastic New York-style cheesecake.

A lovely place...we'll definitely go back ( Erin? Jen? we'll have to go there if you ever make it down...)

After dinner (and a return trip home, as we got a call from the home security people that our alarm had gone off...the pups had managed {Matt hadn't closed it properly} to get the back door open), we were off to the Clarence Brown theater for a performance of The Odd Couple.
Hysterical. Really well acted, and I wanted to either take the set home with me and insert it into my living room, or hire the set designer to make over my house!

It was a good night, mainly because I got out of the house.

And tonight? I'm making a Ginger Chicken Soup for Matt, he's making SUSHI for me. How romantic, eh?
